Zoom only affects horizontally * TRIM: (Cmd2 or f6) * Trim the beginning or end * Opt will switch the direction * Cm2 will cycle through more modes * THE OTHER MODES * TCE TRIMMER (Time, Compression, and expansion): Will expand or contact the entire file to fit a set time. Won’t cut anything out * LOOP TRIMMER: Loops the loops * SELECTOR TOOL: (Cmd3) * Selects where you are in the timeline * Simple click: point in time * Double click: highlights region * Triple click: Highlights entire track * GRABBER TOOL: (cmd4) * Grabs things, selects entire clip * OTHER OPTIONS * Opt drag- will make a copy! * Ctrl + click with grabber tool, will move selection to playhead * SEPARATION GRABBER: Grab selection and move it. Hit cmd4 and do it when it’s scissor hand * OBJECT GRABBER: cmd4. You can shift + tab to select transients * Shift opt return: Select from point to end * Shift return: select from point to beginning * Down to select beginning of selection, up to select end (while playing) Edit modes: different ways to restrict movement so that you can have a nice workflow * Slip: no restrictions * Grid: restricted by parameter of grid. Bars & beats. Lets you quantize. * Shuffle: Select what you don’t want. Delete. It will be gone. Clips won’t overlap though, that’s the restriction * Spot: place something at a particular point in the timeline. Annie Elise is a violinist and string arranger in New York City. She writes and records string parts for other artists' records, from a single violin line to a full stacked section.
She trained as a classical violinist and enrolled at Berklee for violin performance before focal dystonia in her left hand ended that path. She spent years producing instead before official remixes for Old Sea Brigade and Axel Flóvent brought her back to the instrument. She now is an active professional string arranger.
For so long I didn't want to play my violin, because of the effect focal dystonia has on my playing. I thought it wasn't good enough.

Annie Elise is a musician, producer and string arranger based in New York City. She has chromesthesia, a form of synesthesia, and works as a violinist, producer, and string arranger for other artists.
Annie Elise, born Annie Elise Dickinson, is 25 and grew up in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. She lives in New York City. Her father Matthew is a music educator, and she first learned music production through testing his new GarageBand curriculum in his classroom iMac lab at 10
She has chromesthesia: sound makes her see color, and color triggers sound. She describes herself as a “conductor for color.” In 2016 she self-released her debut album, Synesthesia, named for the condition.
In 2017 she gave a TEDxYouth@Lancaster talk, Seeing Sound: How Synesthesia Can Change Our Thinking. It has been viewed more than 120k+ times and became the most-watched TEDx talk on synesthesia. Read the full piece .
Annie enrolled at Berklee for violin performance. Halfway through her first semester, she was diagnosed at Harvard Medical Center with focal dystonia in her left hand. It is effectively untreatable and halted her violin studies. Instead of dropping out, she pivoted to production.
For so long I didn't want to play my violin, because of the effect focal dystonia has on my playing. I thought it wasn't good enough.
After years working behind the scenes, she is playing violin again. Official remixes for Old Sea Brigade and Axel Flóvent got her back on the instrument. She now works as a string arranger, with credits including David Archuleta, Vacations, Mon Rovîa, ivri, Lily Meola, Orville Peck.
Her EP magic came out in July 2026 and was co-produced with her husband Z. AnalogueTrash called the record “sublime electro-flavoured dream pop,” placing her alongside Purity Ring and Magdalena Bay. She is also, unexpectedly, a famous internet personality in China. (see globe) China →

magic is a five-track EP by Annie Elise, released on 10 July 2026 through Boomer Hotel, the New York recording and production studio she runs. It runs 11 minutes and 36 seconds.
The record collects work made either side of her return to the violin - a return that followed years away from the instrument after a focal dystonia diagnosis in her left hand.
